My personal promise

"Marriage is a mosaic you build with your spouse.

Millions on tiny moments that create your love story..."

The Full Story

I have been to many weddings in my life and have walked out of the church/venue and been struck by the few times the couple’s names were actually mentioned and how little personal content was included. So, I made a promise to myself that, when I became a minister and was licensed to officiate weddings, the guests would know, for sure, whose wedding they attended. I do that by asking my couple to fill out a “questionnaire”.

Of course, you only answer the questions IF you want your wedding service to be personalized - not everybody does as some people are more private than others. Some want a very short basic ceremony because they don’t want to be standing up at the front too long...they don’t like being the centre of attention.

I send this questionnaire about 6 weeks before the wedding - of course I have been asked “why can’t we do it sooner and get it out of the way”...my reason for the timing is “when you are in the process of planning a wedding, you see a different side of each other - it can bring up issues that need to be resolved (let’s face it, planning a wedding can be stressful!!). I have found over the years that couples have remarked “I never knew that side of her/him”...”I didn’t know how strong she/he is”...that’s why I leave it until closer to the BIG day!!

The end result is “YOUR wedding, not A wedding”…my personal promise.
